Purpose:
The Controller team is the onshore face of Finance for Shell Mexico Country specific activities related to the control framework and local regulatory compliance. The Finance Advisor works with the Country Controller and the other advisors as a team that delivers this scope which covers all Shell Business/Legal Entities in Mexico – Upstream, Mobility, Trading & Supply, as well as Corporate.
The Advisor collaborates with Shell teams in FO, Business Finance and Center of Excellence ensuring Shell Mexico control processes and controls are designed and operating effectively and that local regulatory compliance requirements are met. The Advisor also works with external auditor/advisors and other external stakeholders (e.g. regulatory agencies, service providers).
This is one of two similar Finance Advisor roles covering Shell Mexico portfolio with Accountabilities allocated between these roles and the Senior Finance Advisor roles within the Controller team.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead local accounting, financial administration, and regulatory reporting for the portfolio of Mexican Legal Entities (including JVs).
Perform accounting and financial analysis to support diverse financial process including local reporting, tax and cost control.
Administrate documentation required for local record keeping including preparing responses to document requests such as audits and bank KYC.
Provide input and data verification to Group Reporting and Group Treasury.
Lead projects that deliver compliance coordinating for Mexico with Operational Team “FO”, Business Finance and Center of Excellence
Deliver Local statutory and coordinate external auditor’s requirements working with FO and other functions.
Perform local GAAP technical accounting discussions to support the business including relevant tax and accounting guidelines and legislation.
Reconciling and analysing balances and performing review of select account reconciliations focusing on local statutory reporting.
Manage local cash management requirements including managing payments and accesses in banking platforms.
Support billing and cost accounting/control of the Shared Services legal entity.
Support the ERP and broader IT systems that enable Financial Reporting and Compliance in country, including support as a Super User.
Support initiatives within the wider Mexico Finance community (e.g. assurance activities, cross-business activities, team dynamics and community events).
Required Education & Skills
Degree in accounting, required.
Minimum 7 years of Extensive experience in finance and accounting field.
Strong Skills in Financial Accounting and Reporting (IFRS and Mexican GAAP).
Strong knowledge in taxation (direct and indirect).
Fluent in Spanish and English (read, write and speak).
Have a strong interpersonal skill to interact with stakeholders.
Demonstrated skills in computer (xls, word, power point, outlook) and ERP (SAP, desired).
Organized and structure profile and process oriented.
